An Afternoon at Nostell Priory

Its taken about a week or so to get back into normal life and remember that I now need to plan things instead of relying on getting up and heading to the pool for entertainment. I have been quite disappointed with the “Summer” weather and therefore a little reluctant to go out and about, its meant that we haven’t really made the most of each day like we usually do but just been pottering about here and there, which has been no good for any of us . This week I realised we need to get out and have fun despite, and try and establish some kind of routine again and so the offer of an afternoon over at Nostell Priory yesterday with my sister in law and nephews and our friend and her son was the perfect start to getting back into the swing of adventures and fun filled days.

Like most national trust places it is beautiful, well preserved, child friendly and there’s lots to see and do.

The play area was their highlight I think down in the woods and the became the base for the afternoon as we loitered at it for about 3 hrs whilst the kids ate their little picnic lunch in the play house and then spent hours climbing, exploring, laughing, swinging, sliding and having general adventures. it was gorgeous.

There were times when we got involved for health and safety or when Megs tshirt got caught on a screw so between laughs helped her as she hung there. Then they had the most amazing swing which I HAD to have a go on and which was so much fun for all ages, hopping and bouncing around.

Of course its always a bit of an anxious time with so many fine china’s, old books, glassware and 4 kids under 5 in tow but they all loved our speedy walk through, and had lots of fun dressing up in the “Family room” as well as looking for things around the house from a leaflet we were given.
WP_20150625_15_17_58_Pro InstagramCapture_5d6f1fd7-bb45-41dd-8962-c4823cf5ef8bI was aware yesterday talking with the other girls that this will soon become a thing of the past, or will become something we cram into a school holiday, as our weekly dynamics will change as soon as September rolls around and little E heads to school. I can’t wait to get planning weeks of fun and adventures either the 3 of us of with friends and fam to make the most of our freedom and this Summer. We look forward to more long days in the sun at Nostell Priory and other local(ish) National Trust places too…Bring on the sun (please)!

What a great day! We haven’t been yet but it looks like a fab place to visit. I had to laugh at the ‘speedy walk’ through the area with breakable stuff – we’ve done our own speedy walk many times! The photo of the kids in the dress up room is fantastic! Thanks for linking up with #YorkshireFamily I’ve added your lovely post to our Pintrest board.
