Thrifty Wife, Hearty Life | 5 under £5 (November)

I really love my bargains this month, and I am thinking because its mainly for me and nearly all accessories! They are very much reflective of the approaching cooler season (though right now this mild weather is lush) and just a few little things I picked up to spruce up my look.

I begin in Primark, where I honestly believe is such a dangerous place to visit these days. £1, £2, £5… they all add up and before you know it you have spent I don’t know how many pounds on things you didn’t really need but seemed a great barg at the time. I thought that maybe I was over Primark in my life but apparently it still holds many a treasure to catch my eye! My most recent visit was rather fruitful with a few stocking fillers for Megs, and then some essentials for me; you know the type,  things I didn’t think I needed til I saw them. Firstly were some cute bows for Megs which I thought would look lovely with her darker Autumn/Winter wardrobe and only £1.50 for the 3, only shes having 2 as the floral one is a keeper for me…

I then picked up a bobble hat, which is something I have wanted one for a good couple of years and for some obscure reason have never bit the bullet and bought one. I think I have been waiting for one as a present but obviously no one took the hints (Mr Smith) so I decided this season I would have one. This one caught my eye as the colour is gorgeous, and when I read that it was only £2 I could.not.stop.laughing! As if I have never bought one when you can get one for 2 quid! I then turned a corner to see a lovely matching blanket scarf – hello £4, and thought how can you not?

We just booked a weekend in Hamburg in December for the Christmas Markets and a little end of year adventure, and I had that in mind as I tried them on. I just imagine they will look gorgeous aiding me to be all bundled up as I live the European festive dream.

They had so many colours and patterns in the scarves and they are so lovely and soft to say how cheap they are, I would recommend them both for yourself and most definitely think they would make lovely Christmas gifts for people!

Next up is a bit of bling! Whilst 2 items, I class it as one category as collectively they were just £3. A cool necklace and amazing jewelled earrings both from H&M. I saw them last weekend whilst out with my sister in law and my inner magpie got the better of me. I also bought another pair of earrings but couldn’t find them when I came to photograph my loot, but either way I was pretty excited to see a grand total of £3 (£4 if you count the missing black and gold ones). H&M Jewellery is just a bit different and I like that.

And finally whats a 5 for 5 without something from home bargains? This months bargain was this copper basket for £3.50. It was love at 1st sight and now sits proudly in my kitchen with all things bread in it! Again I didn’t realise I needed it until I saw it! I would really love more copper in my Kitchen/home generally, I just think it looks fab.

So many nice things! I can’t believe you never had a bobble het either 😉 This one is really lovely. I have bought a few things in Primark lately and yes it is very dangerous. I need a copper basket too! Thanks so much for linking up! x

I’m off to buy that copper basket ASAP, I have been looking for one like that for ages. I have a check scarf I bought from Primark a few years ago and it’s still going strong, they have such great bargains and I love the colours you’ve gone for, you certainly will look to part in Hamburg, what a lovely break that will be! Fab five Mary, I have some H&M jewellery in mine this month too 🙂 xx

Ooooo I saw the copper baskets yesterday when I went to our local Home Bargains, and now I am wondering why an earth I didn’t pick one up. I have heard a few things abut the bargain bobble hats in Primark, and love the colour. And how could you resist the scarf too. Perfect for the Christmas markets in Hamburg, how exciting for you. Love your 5 items Mary #5under£5 x

I only said to my eldest today that I needed a bobble hat only £2 that is fabulous and I love the colour too. I’ve not been into Home Bargains for a little while, but yes the copper stuff is very pretty. Those Primark hair bows are very cute, my three year old is very off and on with hair accessories at the moment much to my dismay, they are so pretty.
I’m still pretty new to 5 under £5 but I can see that this is just going to encourage me to by more things xx

    Hi Mary,

I must say the concept described here is something new for me to know, the bows are quite alluring and they give an elegant effect on wearing. I liked the plain black bow as it will go with any of the outfit due to its ever trending color . Delightful post 🙂

Hi Mary, thanks for sharing about keeping warm without upping up more electricity bill! Very useful and practical. I just wanted to ask, what are the best coffee to have to warm up or should it be tea?
