Before I go any further with sharing this weeks bargain buys, let’s first address the one fact that this is a “Frugal Friday” post going live on a Saturday evening! The reason is that I just got my laptop back this afternoon after a week long stay at the PC world service centre. It needed a new screen (which is now amazing), and was £60 plus £51 for the part – not the most bargainous spend, but certainly cheaper than a new laptop!
So yes, it’s been a bit weird (and quiet) this week with no computer to work on. I have borrowed Nath’s Ipad some nights, but for some reason I can’t work Apple products and end up getting annoyed – is it just me? I’m deffs more of an Android / Chromebook kinda girl!
I haven’t had a very eventful week, mostly spent at home and getting on top of laundry, cleaning and everything else. I have found the kids have been on one too and its all felt a little mundane and repetitive. Thank goodness for the joy of a bargain to brighten things up a little!
Return of the Car boots
I love Easter for a million reasons, but one is most definitely that it starts “The Season” on the coast, thus meaning a huge welcome back to my favourite weekly car boot in Bridlington, at the Strawberry Fields.
I took the opportunity to pay it a visit on Monday with the kids, and whilst we didn’t find a whole lot of things we were hunting for, we did pick up some almost new Roald Dahl books for £1 each, and awesome retro dress for £1 and myself a funky retro sweatshirt, that’s right … for a quid! I also had the joy of bumping into one of my old school mates – so lovely!
I look forward to summer days spent rummaging round car boots and discovering random things!
Shpock
If you don’t have the Shpock app on your device yet, then you need it in your life. It is an online car boot type of thing only you make offers and deals and no bidding really, and its all local to where you are, which is calculated with google location. I love it.
You can find shoes, clothes, home ware, bikes, furniture etc on it and just this week I managed to get Alice a beautiful cot bed for just £3o!!! It obviously had the odd scratch (it is pre-loved after all), but the walnut look is just gorgeous and it’s clean and sturdy! What a barg!
I have also had the kids bikes off there previously and even sold some stuff too – very thrifty!
Curry Fakeaway
Finally it’s been a bit of a curry week here in our family. Mexican and Indian are most certainly my faves and I love every opportunity to perfect my skills in cooking them. On Monday we had dinner at my sisters and I made 2 big curry’s, one using their left over lamb, the other cauliflower (50p each), chick peas (30p) and potato’s. I bought the spices from Mullaco (a local Asian supermarket) and it worked out incredibly cheap for an Indian feast that tasted VERY authentic.
I made the cauliflower curry again on Wednesday because it was yummy – this time I added more yogurt for the kids!
Hoping for more deals next week, calmer kids, and an increase on the social front!
Yay for car boot bargains! Glad the weather is brightening slightly for the car booters to come out. Your curry looks amazing! I’m always trying to attempt curry as my husband grew up on it but mine never looks as good as that!
