With weeks of bad sickness and unexpected events, with poor weather and just a desire to hibernate, this week has really seen a turn back to our Ordinary lifestyle and activities. I have said before how much my kids (and myself) do so much better outside and how we love to have adventures and outings outdoors. Therefore this week has been a good one because it has held for us a couple of great days out walking and slopping in mud, chatting as we go and enjoying the beautiful outdoors.
Our 1st was on Tuesday; with it being half term we took a few days away at Grandma’s as we wanted to keep her company and she wanted to take the grandchildren to see the snowdrops at Burton Agnes Hall.
The kids loved being with their cousins, looking out for various sculptures and creations, admiring the thousands of lovely snow drops, and of course jumping in muddy puddles!
It was nice to chat with family, walk at a gentle pace and see the kids going nuts to finally be outside and getting back to a life of adventures!
After such a great afternoon and seeing the joy on the kids faces at being back out and about, and being able to be free and muddy, we decided to have another adventure on Saturday and took them on another muddy walk in North Yorkshire. Again it was lovely to be together the 4 of us and for Mr Smith and I to be able to chat and make some plans for the next few months whilst the kids ran, climbed, laughed and explored. I loved to see him away from his computer and be able to have fun with the kids too!
I really love to see my children loving life in this beautiful world. It is so easy to see all that is wrong with it, get caught up in all that is hard about life, but I have always loved the ordinary moments of muddy walks and talks in the woods and country side. I love to be together outside having fun and being free. I enjoy being a mother so much more when we’re not stuck in going mad…This is our ordinary and I am glad to have found our vibe again now the weather is improving, sickness has lifted and energy restored!
Role on more spring days!

I feel just the same when we get outdoors Mary, it’s lovely to get away from all the devices and screens and just enjoy each other. Muddy puddles are the best and I love your photos, glad you managed to get out a little and that you are feeling better xx
Thanks Hayley. Yeah it feels good to be better and outside more! I bet your boys love it x
There’s nothing better than going outside and blowing away from the cobwebs, I can’t wait for spring. And on another note- how gorgeous is her all in one heart suit? Beautiful! xx
