We’re Moving to Kuwait

Well, I think it’s safe to say that that title says it all – We are in fact moving to Kuwait! So, just in case you’ve missed the announcement we made on Facebook and Insta a couple of weeks ago, there are some big (well pretty huge) changes happening for our family this Summer, and that is that we are moving to Kuwait for a couple of years (or at least that is what we are currently anticipating).

Why Kuwait?

I suppose in a nutshell the answer as to why, out of the entire world are we moving to Kuwait, would be simply that that is where Nathan was offered a job! But, for a few years now we have spoken about living abroad and travelling more as a family. It was something we wanted to make sure we did while the kids were young, so we could experience it together. And the more we looked into it, the more we decided on the Middle East initially – it seems a really great place if you’re a teacher, and they seem to pay well and look after you there. Not to mention all year sunshine, amazing food and a great lifestyle.

It almost became a reality sooner when he was offered a job in Qatar back in 2020, but with the second Covid wave and the ripples of further lock-down (and all that saga), travel was of course halted and his job offer revoked as result. While we were hugely disappointed by this, if anything it showed us how much we did indeed want the opportunity to see what expat life would be like in the middle east. We wanted more than ever the opportunity to have an adventure together.

And so, as you are all aware, we are currently living with my mother in law since selling our home and will leave mid August for our new chapter in the desert!

So…Things will change around here

Things are changing so much in our lives in the coming weeks, and I have decided that I 100% want to blog about it all – especially our life in the Middle East once we get there. I want to keep a record of it all both as memories for us, but also for friends and family (and all of you) to read/follow along.

I can’t wait to share posts about the amazing culture, what we eat, the places we visit/discover and of course just how we are adjusting to it all too. So as per usual (and that happens periodically here on my blog), things will be mixing up slightly at The Hearty Life, as it naturally transitions into me blogging about and focusing more on Expat life and our adventures.

Currently life is busy prepping all the documents we need and trying to secure a house here to buy for when we come back, but we can honestly say that while we will miss our family and friends in the UK, we are super excited to be moving to Kuwait and living life in a new place!
