If like us, a chunk of your lifestyle revolves around the great outdoors, then a Kelly kettle will enhance you life like no other. When I first saw one I was completely fascinated by it and, as excited as a kid on Christmas morning – we had to have one in our life – both for adventures and for peace of mind with emergency preparedness.
It is compact, easy and low cost to use, Eco friendly and can be taken on any family adventure! We love it so much!
What is a Kelly kettle?
The Kelly Kettle boils water outdoors in just 3 – 5 minutes using just a handful of fuel such as Sticks, Pine Cones, Bark, dry Grass, etc., irrespective of weather conditions and is believed to be the fastest in the world! It is essentially a double-walled chimney with the water contained within the chimney walls. You fill it with water, simply start a very small fire in the base (which the kids had fun doing), set the kettle on the base and drop additional fuel down the chimney (natural fuels such as twigs, leaves, grass, paper, dry-animal dung, etc.). The large internal surface area of the chimney heats the water extremely fast so very little fuel is required.
The fire is all safely contained within the fire-base and the chimney of the kettle itself so that strong wind and rain does not interfere with the fire and also, so the kettle is safe to use in many areas where open fires are not suitable. Within a matter of minutes, the water will come to a rolling boil. It is AMAZING!
My favourite thing is that you can also add the Hobo Camping Stove accessory and turn the steel fire-base of the Kettle into a highly effective Wood fuelled camping stove. The Kelly Kettle System really is one of the most useful pieces of camping equipment that any outdoors person can own and will be a life saver for those who are mindful of emergency preparedness.
Why we love the Kelly Kettle
When camping or out with a tribe of kids, time is of the essence, so anything that cuts out waiting for hot chocolates while camping or dinner is always a winner, not to mention that it enables the kids to be able to cook and help with it as they can build the small fires and manage it too.
We have the base camp kit which is worth every penny at £119 (currently on sale though at £107). It boils 1.6 litres at once and takes up little space in an already packed car with a packing height of 33cm and width 18.5cm. You can use it for family outings, camping, beach trips, out in the garden and of course emergency prep! We love that that you can use natural fuel sources and that that in and of itself is education for the kids as they work to light and manage it. We enjoyed being able to boil water while eating dinner when camping, or use it quickly after a day in the sea, to warm up with warm drinks or a pot noodle!
Whether you buy one because like us you saw it as an essential for outdoor life/emergency prep or just because, you will not be disappointed. It is the ideal gift for Christmas, or investment and is a fabulous piece of kit for adventures, camping, hot chocolate on the beach or hiking. It is the number one thing I would recommend to people and it has been enhancing our adventures since we got one in August!
*Thank you to Kelly Kettle for gifting this kit in return for an honest review and on going sharing of our love for it!
I am going to have to get one of these!
