The Zed Rooms By Simba | London, England

I know I have mentioned it a lot recently, but in case you didn’t know – this time last week we were in London! We had the pleasure of staying at The Zed Rooms By Simba for 2 nights to both relax on a kid free break, as well as see the sites of the capital. With the stylish decor and comfortable rooms, we not only slept like a baby, but without a doubt staying at The Zed Rooms really made the trip. Their location was ideal – offering local, tasty eateries and shopping, whilst being only 10 minutes from the tube. The whole vibe and look was lovely and it was a lush place to spend a weekend together.

The zed rooms By Simba are located in the Shoreditch area of London and are boutique serviced apartments in partnership with Cuckooz. They are designed to unlock your sleeping potential by not only being a multi-sensory experience, but by also offering you the full Simba sleep experience with the Simba Hybrid® Mattress, outlast duvet and hybrid pillows on each bed. They have one and 2 bedroom apartments available to rent; each with stylish lounges and bathrooms and fully equipped kitchens.

Whether for business or pleasure, solo, couple or family stays, The Zed rooms offer you a calm and restful place to escape busy life.

We had a 2 bedroom apartment and were accompanied by my sister and her husband. We of course bagged the Master ensuite room and they took the second double room, with use of the bathroom next door. Both rooms were lovely, clean and calm.

Our room was named “The Woom room”! It is described as “A sleeping sanctuary where you can curl up cocooned and breathe in peace” and I have never seen anything like it before. The soft pink tones and bespoke wooden bed evokes a feeling of calm (and quirkiness) and whilst it was something completely different to climb inside and be enveloped by such a unique feature, it was both relaxing and adventurous. Nathan especially loved it, I took a little longer to adjust.

The second bedroom is named “The Loom room” which was located across the hall from us. This room had fresh white cottons and was decked out with artwork that was designed to take the mind to faraway, dreamy places. My sister and her husband also found it comfortable and lovely.

Both rooms came with beautiful scents, towels and google home (that controlled lighting and sound to create whatever mood you were feeling). Our room also had a lovely rocking chair and the huge shower was a real treat compared to our over the bath one at home.

A Multi-Sensory Experience…

The unique selling point of The Zed rooms, and the thing that sets them apart from anywhere else we have ever stayed, is that not only do they offer you the opportunity to stay in trendy London apartment that is equipped with all you would need, as well as flexibility to come and go as you please. But they are also designed to be a multi-sensory experience too – thus enabling you a more relaxed experience and better nights sleep.

As mentioned the beds are comfortable and hold you like no other, and the amazing Simba range helps regulate temperature whilst you sleep – all helping you to rest more peacefully.

The living area is open plan with lounge, table and chairs and a lovely kitchen area. It was comfortable and inviting, with a navy and grey colour scheme and decorated with wood and plants to create a calm and natural feel. We loved the “man in the moon” hanging sculpture, as well as numerous interesting well-being and sleep themed pieces or art work, books and rugs. It had a cool rocking chair that we all fought to sit in each night and a nice big velvet sofa you sank into. There were snuggly and warm throws placed around that you could wrap up in whilst reading, talking or watching TV and some yoga mats – should you fancy a stretch and some grounding.

The flooring of the apartment is designed in textures that feel great on bare feet and the lighting in each room is muted and controlled by a quick “hey google..” to give you warm hues over the disruption of blue lights.

The apartment is also scented to give balance and calmness. The lounge is fragrance with sandalwood (which is known to being mental clarity and relaxation) and the bedrooms are scented with tranquility sleep fragrances to help promote a good night’s rest and relaxation (all by Neom).

The bathrooms are equipped with bath salts to relax in the deep bath of the main bathroom, or a full miniature range from London-based company Neom (which promotes well being). Combined with the mineral rich waters, they all add to the winding down and relaxing experience you would hope for when you step foot into The Zed Rooms.

All of these elements are so subtle and thoughtful and yet the create something quite amazing. The Zed Rooms have orchestrated textures, sound, warm calm colour schemes and tranquil fragrances, to create an environment you can escape to, to find balance, relaxation, calming vibes and an amazing nights sleep.

The Local Area

Shoreditch is known for being trendy and creative and it didn’t disappoint. I love that even though we were so close to the heart of London with all of it’s Iconic sites, we still had the feel of a little town with the Spitalfield Markets, Brick lane and beautiful old brewery and buildings.

It has such easy access by tube into the centre of London, and only a 10 minute walk straight down commercial street on the Saturday, we hopped on at Aldgate East up to Westminster. It is a great place for shopping, eating and staying and we noticed all of our favourite retail stores, plenty of Vegan restaurants, bars and one of kind places. There were all the well known eateries and coffee shops like Nando’s, Wagamamas, Costa and Giraffe (to name a few) as well as a Tesco express 2 minutes away and regular local markets too. We were really impressed with how varied it was.

We left our car in a car park on Brick lane, which flung us straight into the heart of everything. Lined with historic and religious buildings, restaurants and markets, it was a super cool and interesting place to explore and eat. On the first night we ate at a gorgeous Mexican a couple of minutes walk between Brick Lane and our apartment. DF/Mexico was delicious, excellent value and had a cool industrial style to it – we would all recommend it.

On the second night we each went our separate ways for dinner and my sister and her husband ate at Giraffe in the Spitalfields market, where we opted for a quirky little pizza place off Brick lane. Again it was excellent value for money, lovely food and super friendly staff. It was a place I thoroughly enjoyed hanging at with Nathan and the little fairy lights were such a lovely touch.

Whatever you fancy eating, and whatever your dietary needs, there is most definitely a place you will love in Shoreditch.

What we Loved

In many ways staying at the Zed rooms was home from home – we had Netflix, time to chill together and the familiar Simba sleep experience we enjoy each night in our own bed. However, we also loved the stylish and calm decor and general feel of the whole place too. It was peaceful, brought balance after 11 miles of busy London sightseeing, and was generally a really lovely place to chill, sleep and hangout together.

We loved the monochrome bathrooms, the subtle scents and the google controlled everything (it brought a lot of curiosity and laughter when she couldn’t quite grasp my Yorkshire accent)! We of course also loved being kid free for a couple of days and the ease of dipping in and out of the city so easily…as well as sampling some ‘reet good local grub’!

We loved the rocking chairs, snuggly throws, interesting books around the place and all of the beautiful plants and art work.

Thank you Simba for such an amazing weekend in London – it was fabulous to stay with you and we came home enriched and well rested. We would love to return again and would most certainly recommend it for your next adventure to London or Business trip.
