It wouldn’t be a British Summer without some rainy weather and boy have we had our fair share of that these last few weeks! Whilst we have also been fortunate enough to have a “proper summer” too, we cannot escape the fact that living in old blighty means the reality of a fair few rainy days. And what does one need on such a day? A lush raincoat of course – so we can face life with confidence,
Because of this I have been on the hunt for a raincoat that is not only practical and light for when we have warmer rainy days, but is also stylish and feels like me! And, thanks to Lighthouse Clothing I have discovered the Short Bowline Jacket in Yellow. Also available in blue and “sea mist” (a light grey) it brings a modern twist on the old faithful iconic fishermans coat and is my new wardrobe essential in this transitional season where we have warm, wind, rain, sun and who knows what else!
Who Are Lighthouse Clothing?
Lighthouse Clothing are based in Ireland and all clothing is made in Belfast, so they know all too well about life on a rainy Island and the importance of having a hard wearing waterproof on hand. They stock Men, Womens and childrens waterproof clothing, as well as Ts, bags, leggings, jumpers and hoodies (to name but a few).
I love their ethos of “live simple, live happy” and this little reminder can be found sewn into your jacket.
Lighthouse clothing is made for those who like to enjoy the simple moments in life – for the wanderers and the roamers who love the great outdoors and for those who seek a quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. Whatever the weather may bring, their range of waterproof coats and jackets will keep you warm, dry and protected.
Lighthouse also offer a great reward system when you sign up to their family “lighthouse rewards“. You earn 5 point for every £1 you spend, 500 points on your birthday and each 500 points transferring for a £5 voucher! There are loads of other ways you can earn rewards too, enabling you money off future purchases as you save them up.
What I Love About The Short Bowline Jacket
Aside from it’s obvious practicality to offer a good rain jacket in warmer weather (and potentially cooler days with jumpers), I really love the colour, style and fit of this minimalist jacket. I am a size 12 and chose a 12 and it fits really lovely (with sufficient room to add a jumper/sweater on those cooler days). I love bright clothing and this yellow brings those vibes, whilst not being overbearing when matched more neutral tones. It goes well with almost everything I have and will also look good on the days I wear my navy and yellow wellies too.
One big thing I noticed was its “windproof” capabilities; down by the coast last week it was warm, but windy and as soon as I put my jacket it on I noticed a massive difference – very impressed!
The rubberised exterior is wipeable, comfortable and breathable and I love how the sleeve can be worn rolled up to show a little pinstripe detail from the lining, or full length. The 2 deep pockets offer room for phone, keys and other kids tat you may have thrust upon you and the hood is a good size and lined to keep you dry and cosy for days bundled against the sea spray or country showers.
This jacket is showerproof and windproof, falls to a classy hip length and provides everything you would expect for a decent rain coat.
The bowline jacket is currently on sale at £49.95 and they also stock some other lovely raincoats in longer lengths, styles and colours too – if you were looking for something longer or less vibrant. I really like the fit, the zip and popper fastening and how easy it is wear for comfort and style when out and about exploring and busy with the fam. It is easy to just have in my bag or in the car – should the weather change (which we all know it usually will!), and I am pleased with the service from Lighthouse Clothing too.
Lighthouse are pretty casual in style and as the name suggests have a coastal/nautical vibe to all of their clothing – which is great for people like me who spend time on the beach or cliffs whatever the weather. But it is also versatile in style and can easily be styled with more street style shoes or clothing to offer stylish and practical outerwear. So whether you are in for a wet school run, a hike in the fields, woods or moors, a city visit or an extra windy coastal adventure; shine bright like a lighthouse in this fabulous raincoat and be well equipped and stylish – whatever the British weather throws your way!
*I was gifted this coat for the purpose of this review. Thank you to Lighthouse Clothing for this lovely jacket.
