Thrifty Wife, Hearty Life – A few Autumnal extras…

With summer seemingly behind us and having not worn sandals in over a week, I decided to rotate my wardrobe and pull out the jumpers and long sleeve dresses and put away the shorts, sandals and bright print trousers and dresses. I always love doing this as it gives me a chance to purge things I no longer wear, but also feels fresh and new with things coming out that I’ve not seen in months. I love to recover my boots and thick socks, coloured tights and scarves. Its nice to catch rays on my skin but its equally nice to be bundled up and snuggly in the crisp air. I finally feel like I know my style and am comfortable with what I have in my wardrobe for each season.

Saying that though, I do still like to shop and buy the odd item to freshen up my look and when you buy mainly second hand the odd new dress or top isn’t exactly a big expense. And so I decided to hit the charity shops this last week and in doing so, picked up a couple of autumnal extras to mix things up a bit which together came in at just £8.29 for 2 shirts and a jumper! Bargain!

Hearty Life (4)

It’s been a while since I felt like a good wander around the charity shops. It used to be something I loved to do regularly and would always be up for a good charity shop rummage, but for whatever reason these days I have to be in the mood (I hope I’m not loosing my flare) and so when I was feeling the urge I went with it!

There is one charity shop in town that regularly has a “half price clothing sale ” on and so when I see the sign it’s always worth a look in that one. On this occasion I bagged a Topshop jumper for £2.50 and an M&S shirt for £2.29! The jumper is great to throw on with skinnies and pumps for the school run and I really like the length of it. The shirt is versatile and I am very partial to stripes… its a good smarter option and goes pretty much with any of my jeans and boots, could look good with skirts and my pinafore too.

Next up I found this great check shirt in scope. Again it’s a nice casual option for busy mum life and breastfeeding and I love the bright red. I felt it was keeping my style whilst being practical. It looks great with pumps and skinny jeans (what I seem to be living in at the moment) but equally as good with my boots…a bargain at £3.50.

Autumn style for me on a day to day basis is all about shirts and boots (or the odd pumps day) with jeans and some knitwear…these 3 items tick all of the boxes and will be getting plenty of wear over the coming months. I love the feeling of getting new clothes to mix up my wardrobe and am currently on the hunt now for a new coat this year. I love it even more when I can find the things I want in charity shops or on sale and end up getting 3 great pieces for under a tenner!
